Finding Things We Enjoy and Actually Doing Them

Front Row Moment - Mt. Sentinel, Missoula, MT

Last month I went whitewater rafting in Idaho. The water levels were high, the rapids were intense, the people were great, and the weather was perfect! It was a great day and a great trip! It has been a long time since I had been on a river, but I love the water and have always loved rafting. The following days Phil and I went on to Missoula, MT and did some exploring and hiking around the area. During this trip, I realized how much I enjoy finding adventure and the journey of doing it. I experience pure joy when I am seeking adventure and almost always experience presence and serenity rather than anxiety during these times. It naturally grounds me and excites me. I also hear and have experienced over and over that spending time in nature heals us, grounds us, and improves our overall health. Therefore, I am going to make it a goal to find adventure and spend time in nature as often as possible.

I sometimes find myself avoiding activities I know I enjoy when I am stuck in resistance, but once I break free I always wonder why it took me so long. Why didn't I break free sooner, but just going out and doing an activity that I know brings me joy.

If there are things that naturally ground us and bring us joy, doesn't it makes sense to spend some of our time focused on those pursuing and doing those activities? Let's commit to deliberately doing the things that create joy and serenity for us! Let's break these cycles of resistance sooner and more often by taking action.
